All the remarks in parentheses ( ) were added by Mary Love Berryman.

In June of 1999 my husband Hoyt and I visited the Pearce Cemetery for the first time. We had difficulty finding the stone of William Pearce, my gggrandfather. When we did find it, it was covered over with a layer of dirt and grass. We cleaned it off and made note of where it was located.

In May 2001 we came back to Adams County to repair the tombstone. Hoyt first put the stone back together using pins and epoxy – a tedious job. He found the stone that was still in the ground, broken from the other stone. He made forms and attached the stone to the stone in the ground, then poured a concrete foundation using rebar in the concrete. It is our hope and prayer that that stone will stand for a good many years.
