Hugh A. McCune, a farmer, residing sixteen miles north of Quincy, and his 10-year-old son were killed by lightning, their bodies not being found until the next day. McCune and his son were working in a field and sought the shelter of a tree, when stricken down by the bolt.
Additional Comments: 1900 Federal Census shows a Hugh Mccuni [sic] age 24, Luena Mccuni age 18, and James Mccuni [sic], age 2 in Quincy Ward 7. Presumed the son was James. Ed.}
