AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

HERMAN HERING LIVED HERE OVER HALF A CENTURY, WAS BORN IN GERMANY

Herman Hering, and old and well respected citizen, passed away this morning at 7 o’clock, his death being due to bronchitis and senility from which he had been a sufferer for the past week.

Deceased was born in Hoevel, Westphalia, Germany, April 29, 1825, and had therefore attained to the ripe old age of 83 years, 1 month and 21 days at the time of his death.  Deceased came to America with his parents 54 years ago where he first secured employment in New York city as a tailor.  After working in New York for two years, he came to Quincy, and made this city his home until the time of his death.  After coming to Quincy he engaged in the tailoring business, retiring about ten years ago.

Beside his many friends in this city, deceased leaves a wife, four sons and three daughters to mourn his loss, the sons being John B. and Fred A. Hering of Quincy, Herman Hering of St. Louis and Bernard Hering of Rockford, Ill.

The daughters are: Mrs. R. R. Bennett, Plymouth, Pa.;  Mrs. Frank Fell, Newark, N. J., and Mrs. Robert Joseph, Quincy.

Outside the immediate family deceased left a large number of grandchildren, and was a member of St. Aloysius Orphanage society for the past fifty-six years.  To the stricken family is extended  the sympathies of the entire community in their bereavement.
