Laid to Rest in Woodlawn Cemetery
Mrs. Henry Young, Formerly of Augusta, Dies Sunday, Funeral Yesterday
Mrs. Sarah Angelina Young, widow of the late Henry Young of Augusta, died at 11:10 Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur B. Crum, in Rock Island, Illinois aged 82 years, 1 month, and 19 days. She had been ill about two months.
Mrs. Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kiser Hawkins, was born on February 28, 1849 at Wilkesville, Vinton County, Ohio, and when about twenty years og age came to Illinois with her parents and settled on a farm four miles east of Augusta in Birmingham Township. On May 1, 1872 she was married to William Henry Young. For a number of years they lived on a farm in the Schuyler County and came to Augusta about thirty years ago.
Mr. Young conducted a grocery store for a number of years in Augusta and died here in January 1919 and since that time Mrs. Young made her home with her children, for the past twelve years, living mostly with her daughter, Mrs. Arthur B. Crum, at Rock Island.
She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs. Young was a member of the AUgusta Christian Church, having joined many years ago.
Funeral services for Mrs. Young were held at the home of her daughter in Rock Island at 7:30 Tuesday evening. Rev. Austin J. Hollingsworth officiating. Yesterday morning the body, accompanied by many relatives and friends, was brought to Augusta and another service was conducted by Rev. F. W. Leonard of Blandinsville, at 1:00 yesterday afternoon at the Christian Church. A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance.
Mrs. Belle Ross, Mrs. Hannah Morrison, and Miss Kittie Coffman sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Sweet Bye and Bye”. Mrs. Bruce Markee accompanied on the piano.
The flower offerings were profuse and very beautiful.
Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers: Roscoe, Walter, Roy, Carl, Robert and Chelso Young. The interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Among those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Crum, Mr. R. Carbit, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stout, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Yound, Mr. and Mrs. Welsh, all of Rock Island; Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Jacobson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Robbins, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. J____ of Galesburg; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Brazel, of Virginia, IL; Mr. and Mrs. William Schwank and daughters, Rosemary and Virginia, of Quincy, IL.
