The Quincy Riflemen served during the Mexican War as Company G of the First Regiment under Col. John J. Hardin. They left Quincy June 14, 1846. The Regiment was organized in Alton, Illinois. Company G was mustered out June 17, 1847 and returned to Quincy shortly afterwards.
