Services Wednesday for Gebke Bartell of Buckley

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Kelley Funeral home for Mrs. Gebke Renstina Bartell, 83, who died Sunday morning at her home in Buckley following a nine months illness. Rev. E. M. Goltermann officiated, and burial was in the Kopmann cemetery at Gifford.

She was born September 20, 1866 at Spetzerfane, Germany and was the daughter of John and Gretchen Ells Duitsman. She spent her childhood in Golden and Flatville, Ill., and was married March 7, 1888, at Flatville to Bartel Bartell, who died February 14, 1941.

She came to the United States with her parents at the age of two, later moving to Buckley. Following their retirement from farming at Buckley the couple moved to Gifford. Mrs. Bartell returned to Buckley in 1947.

Surviving are two sons, John of Buckley and Barney of Gifford; two daughters, Mrs. Sadie Trusheim and Mrs. Gertrude Krumwiede, both of Buckley; one sister, Mrs. Tida Busboom of Beatrice, Neb., and a brother Bernhard Duitsman of Gifford; 11 grand-children and nine great grandchildren. One son and five brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bartell was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church at Buckley.
